By 2025, China’s fruit market is expected to exceed 2.7 trillion!

The world fruit map produced and released by Rabobank reveals the current situation and key trends of the global fruit industry, such as the popularity of frozen fruits in the world, the tripling of the trade volume of avocado and blueberry, and the significant growth of China’s fresh fruit imports.
The report says the fruit market is far more global than the vegetable market. About 9% of the fruits grown worldwide are used for international trade, and this proportion is still rising.
Bananas, apples, citrus and grapes are the most common in fruit import and export trade. Latin American countries are the leading force in global exports. China’s import market is huge and growing.
How should fruit, as a fresh play, be managed? There are too many kinds of fruit. What kind of fruit should be planted in what season? What is the law of fruit distribution in the country?
one
Frozen and fresh fruits are becoming more and more popular
About 80% of all fruits in the world are sold in fresh form, and this market is still growing, with more growth outside the United States and the European Union. In more mature markets, consumer preferences seem to be shifting to more natural and fresh fruits, including frozen fruits. Correspondingly, the sales of storage resistant products such as fruit juice and canned fruit are poor.
In the past decade, the global demand for frozen fruit has increased by 5% per year. Berries are one of the main frozen fruit products, and the popularity of such fruits has deepened this trend. At the same time, the global demand for processed fruit products (such as canned, bagged and bottled) is stable globally, but the demand in Europe, Australia and the United States decreases by more than 1% every year.
two
Organic fruit is no longer a luxury
Organic fruit has been favored by more and more consumers and is gaining more market share all over the world. In general, the market share of organic fruits in developed countries is higher than that in emerging economies. However, income level is not the only determinant of the purchase of organic fruits, because the share of organic agricultural products in the total consumption of agricultural products varies greatly in each country, from 2% in Australia and 5% in the Netherlands to 9% in the United States and 15% in Sweden.
The reasons behind this change may be related to the supermarket’s price and quality management of traditional fruits and vegetables and cultural factors. In any case, organic products meet the needs of consumers with higher requirements for food quality.
three
Super food promotes fruit trade
Social media seems to play an increasingly important role in the trend of fruit consumption, and the number of people who believe that the so-called “superfood” is very beneficial to health is gradually increasing.
In order to supply blueberries, avocados and other popular super fruits throughout the year, most countries in the world rely on imports, at least for some time of the year. Therefore, the trade volume of these products has increased steadily.
four
China occupies a place in the world market
Over the past decade, the international fresh fruit export volume has increased by nearly 7% every year, and the world’s major fruit import markets such as the United States, China and Germany have absorbed most of the growth. Relatively speaking, emerging markets such as China and India are becoming more and more important in the global fruit market.
China is the largest producer in the world, and its import and export of fresh fruits and processed fruits are also expanding rapidly.
There are many factors driving the growth of fresh fruit trade, especially for China as a whole: the improvement of market access conditions, the change of consumer preferences, a more professional retail environment, the increase of purchasing power, the improvement of logistics, the development of (modified atmosphere) storage and cold chain facilities.
Many fruits can be transported by sea. For Latin American countries such as Chile, Peru, Ecuador and Brazil, this creates global market opportunities.
“Pineapple sea”, Guangdong Xuwen is on fire. In fact, many fruits are the same as pineapple. The famous origin often means unique climate and soil conditions + long planting tradition + mature planting technology, which is an important reference basis for purchase and taste.
With the development of China’s economy and the continuous improvement of residents’ living standards, household expenditure on fruit will continue to grow. It is expected that the market scale of China’s fruit industry will continue to grow in the future, reaching about 2746.01 billion yuan by 2025.
