Hun LAK, head of rich farm Asia Co Ltd, a Cambodian agricultural company, said that the export market and price of mangoes in Cambodia in 2021 were better than those in previous years. Especially this year, Cambodia has obtained the access of Chinese customs, and Cambodia’s fresh mango began to be exported to China in May. Hun LAK believes that orders from China will continue to increase.
There are two harvest seasons for mangoes in Cambodia every year, from March to April in the dry season and from October to November in the rainy season. According to Hun LAK’s prediction, Cambodia’s mango export to China will grow explosively at the end of November.
While the export volume has soared, the high transportation cost has become a major problem perplexing the mango industry in Cambodia. At present, the selling price of fresh Cambodian mangoes in China is about US $1.2-1.5/kg.
According to the data of the Ministry of agriculture, forestry and Fisheries of Cambodia, by 2020, the planting area of mango in Cambodia was about 130000 hectares, of which the harvest area accounted for 70%, about 91104 hectares, and the average annual output exceeded 1.38 million tons.
