Hunan vegetables fill the international “vegetable basket”
In the first July, 278000 tons of vegetables from Hunan were exported to 29 countries and regions around the world

Hunan vegetables are becoming more and more popular in the world. In the first July, Hunan’s agricultural exports were mainly vegetables, with 278000 tons of vegetables exported to 29 countries and regions around the world, a year-on-year increase of 28%. With the continuous promotion of the “vegetable basket” project in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Bay area, 382 planting bases in Hunan have been selected into the list of “vegetable basket” recognized bases in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Bay area, and 18 processing enterprises have been selected into the list of “vegetable basket” processing enterprises in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Bay area. From January to July, Hunan’s vegetable exports to Hong Kong accounted for 74.2% of the total vegetable exports.
More than 90% of Hunan’s imports and exports of agricultural products are concentrated in Yueyang, Changsha and Yongzhou. In the first July, Yueyang’s import and export of agricultural products accounted for nearly half of the province’s total import and export of agricultural products; Changsha’s import and export of agricultural products amounted to 7.63 billion yuan, accounting for about one third of the total import and export of agricultural products in the province; Yongzhou imported and exported 3.26 billion yuan of agricultural products, almost all of which were exported.
In the first July, Hunan’s imported agricultural products were mainly soybeans, corn and other grains. According to the analysis of Changsha Customs, since this year, the number of pigs in the province has increased by 32.4% over the same period of last year. Grains such as soybean and corn are the main raw materials of pig feed, increasing the import demand. From January to July, Hunan’s imports of soybeans and corn increased by 37.3% and 190% year-on-year respectively.
