The export growth of blueberries in Peru accounted for nearly 30% of the total export of agricultural products

According to blueberry consulting, the blueberry industry media, the export of blueberries in Peru has continued to grow in recent years, driving the export of agricultural products in Peru. In October, Peru’s agricultural exports reached 978 million US dollars, an increase of 10% over the same period in 2020.
The growth of Peru’s agricultural exports in this quarter was mainly due to the increase in market demand and the good feedback of products in the international market. Statistics show that among the agricultural products exported by Peru, blueberries account for 34% and grapes account for 12%. Among them, Peru exported 56829 tons of blueberries in October, with an export amount of 332 million US dollars, an increase of 14% and 11% respectively over the same period last year.
The main destinations of blueberry exports from Peru are the United States and the Netherlands, accounting for 56% and 24% of the market share respectively. In October, Peru sent 31605 tons of blueberries to the North American market, with an export value of 187 million US dollars, an increase of 18% and 15% respectively over the same period last year. The transaction price of Peruvian blueberries in the North American market was US $5.92/kg, a slight decrease of 3% compared with the previous quarter. The main buyers in the North American market are hortifrut and camposol fresh USA, accounting for 23% and 12% of the total imports respectively.
Over the same period, Peru sent 13527 tons of blueberries to the Dutch market, with an export amount of US $77 million, a decrease of 6% and an increase of 1% over the same period last year. The price of Peruvian blueberries in the Netherlands was $5.66/kg, an increase of 8% over the previous quarter. The main buyers in the Netherlands are camposol fresh and Driscoll’s European companies, accounting for 15% and 6% of the total imports respectively.
