Beijing, July 7 (Xinhua) state councilor and foreign minister Wang Yi delivered a video speech entitled “accelerating the construction of a closer community of common destiny between China and Pakistan in a new era” at the opening ceremony of the seminar on the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan on July 7.

Wang Yi said that China and Pakistan have been in the same boat for 70 years, forging ahead, nurturing a unique “iron friendship”, building rock solid political mutual trust, and achieving the most valuable strategic assets.

Wang Yi stressed that the current international situation has entered a period of profound change. As an all-weather strategic cooperative partner, China and Pakistan need to speed up the construction of a closer community of common destiny in the new era than ever before. First, strengthen strategic communication; Second, we should work hand in hand to overcome the epidemic situation; Third, we should promote the construction of China Brazil economic corridor; Fourth, we should jointly safeguard regional peace; Fifth, we should practice real multilateralism.

Wang Yi said that China sincerely hopes that Pakistan will be united, stable, developed and strong. No matter how the international situation changes in the future, China will work hand in hand with Pakistan to firmly support Pakistan in safeguarding its national independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, embark on a development path in line with its national conditions, and realize the grand vision of “new Pakistan”.

Speaking at one belt, one road trip to Pakistan, Qureshi, foreign minister of the Republic of China, said that Pakistan is willing to deepen cooperation with China in building a “one belt and one way” cooperation and promote the high quality development of the economic corridor of China and Pakistan. It is willing to continue with the Chinese side to do a good job in celebrating the 70th anniversary series of activities to establish diplomatic relations between the two countries, and promote the comprehensive development of Bazhong relations and jointly safeguard peace, stability, development and prosperity in the region and the world.
